1. TallyPrime
The default accounting software for Indian small businesses, known by almost every accountant. Strong GST, TDS and inventory, works offline, and a one-time licence keeps long-term cost low. It is desktop software: multi-user access is over a local network, and remote access needs Tally's remote features or cloud hosting. For approval workflows, project budgets or deeper procurement, companies usually add customisations or other software. QuantProc vs Tally
2. Zoho Books
Clean, affordable cloud accounting with GST e-invoicing from the Standard plan, inventory from Professional, and a large family of other Zoho apps. Plans are priced per organisation with user and invoice limits; payroll is a separate subscription. A good choice for small businesses whose main need is accounting. QuantProc vs Zoho Books
3. QuantProc
A cloud ERP for companies in any industry that have outgrown accounting-only software. It runs accounting and GST billing alongside procurement (RFQ → comparison → PO → GRN) with a hard budget check on every PO, inventory, projects, CRM, HR and payroll, on the web and mobile. It also connects to a B2B supplier marketplace and can be customised for other countries' tax. Being newer, it has a smaller user base and fewer third-party consultants than the long-established names. See QuantProc ERP
4. Odoo
A modular, open-source ERP with dozens of apps, from accounting and inventory to full manufacturing (MRP), e-commerce and website. Community edition is free to self-host; paid plans are per user. Its breadth and flexibility are its strength, but most companies need an implementation partner, which is often the larger cost. QuantProc vs Odoo
5. ERPNext
A fully open-source ERP (GPL licence) with no per-user fees, covering accounting, inventory, manufacturing, HR and more. Hosting on Frappe Cloud is inexpensive. It suits companies with in-house technical skills or a trusted partner, because setup and support are your responsibility.
6. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
A mature cloud ERP for mid-sized businesses, tightly integrated with Outlook, Excel and Teams. Indian GST and e-invoicing are supported. Per-user prices are higher and it is sold and implemented through Microsoft partners.
7. SAP Business One
SAP's ERP for small and mid-sized companies, strong in distribution and manufacturing, with a large partner network. It is one of the costlier options once licences and partner-led implementation are included, and suits established companies that want the SAP name and are planning for long-term scale.
How to choose
- Write down your top five problems. For example: "purchases go over budget", "we can't see project margins", "branch stock is wrong".
- Shortlist by size and need. Accounting only and one office: Tally or Zoho Books. Several sites, approvals and projects: a full ERP such as QuantProc, Odoo or Business Central. Strong in-house IT: ERPNext or Odoo Community.
- Compare three-year total cost, including implementation, training and customisation, not just the licence.
- Run your own scenarios in the demo. See our ERP buying checklist.
- Check local support and compliance: GST, e-invoicing, TDS, and VAT if you trade abroad.

Frequently asked questions
Which is the best ERP software in India?
It depends on your size and needs. TallyPrime and Zoho Books suit small businesses that mainly need accounting and GST. QuantProc, Odoo and Dynamics 365 Business Central suit growing companies that need procurement, inventory, projects and HR in one system. ERPNext suits teams with technical skills, and SAP Business One suits established mid-sized companies.
Which ERP is best for small businesses in India?
For accounting-led small businesses, TallyPrime (one-time licence) or Zoho Books (low monthly price) are common choices. If you have several sites, purchase approvals or projects to control, a cloud ERP such as QuantProc is a better fit.
Is there a free ERP software?
Yes. ERPNext and Odoo Community edition are free open-source ERPs, and Zoho Books has a free accounting plan. Free software still has costs for hosting, setup and support.
How much does ERP cost in India?
From a few thousand rupees a year for basic accounting software to several lakh rupees for a partner-implemented mid-market ERP. Cloud ERPs are usually priced per user per month, plus onboarding.
